The Shaw Collet router has evolved slowly. The design and development process has taken from its first conception, 40 years. Many people have contributed to this process at various times with encouragement, objective feedback, problem solving and expertise. Thank you very much.

John Shaw is a woodworker who established New Zealand’s only fine woodworking school
Progress in the last five years has been driven by a partnership between Compakto and JRS Woodworking Technology. One an innovative Nelson manufacturer of woodworking equipment who export their products all over the world and the other, John Shaw, a well known woodworker and educator who established New Zealand/Aotearoa’s only fine woodworking school in Nelson in 2006.
John’s aim during the collet router’s development has always been to develop a router table that will extend the capabilities and re-define the expectations of woodworkers; the five key areas that we felt could be improved on were accuracy, noise, controllability, safety and capability.
The Shaw Collet Router is the result.
